Contrinex has introduced a new range of 4mm diameter and M5 miniature inductive sensors with a sensing distance of 2.5mm on steel. This is the longest available operating distance for a sensor of this size in the world, being three times the distance of conventional sensors.
The Contrinex-developed Condist® technology that enables up to three times operating distances over conventional techniques is now applied to smaller sensors. By incorporating discrete components into an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), space requirements for the control electronic circuitry are significantly reduced. This has allowed Contrinex to create a sensor range in 4mm diameter and M5 format with an operating distance that was previously only available in sensors measuring at least 12mm diameter.
Contrinex Series 500 sensors are ruggedly built with stainless steel housings, are embeddable, and have built-in LED, short circuit, voltage reversal and overload protection.
Because of the long operating distance, the sensors can be installed further away from the target to be detected and any moving parts making them less susceptible to accidental collision damage. The sensing technology used is highly effective on ferrous metals and the Series 500 sensors provide excellent results for parts and materials that are difficult to detect such as small, narrow components and even wires.
