St. Marys, PA—July 25, 2008—Spectrum Sensors and Controls introduces "AquaSense" Water Temperature Sensor, a new product designed for pool and spa applications requiring ease of installation and a fast temperature response time. The new sensor, which is housed in a rugged, molded shell, is compatible with most major pool/spa control systems on the market today. The standard AquaSense sensor utilizes thermistor-sensing elements in a low-cost package.
To install Spectrum's AquaSense, simply drill a 1/4" hole into the PVC piping, insert the probe, then use a standard 1/2" wide hose clamp to seal the O-ring onto the pipe. The molded plastic housing is always in direct contact with the water flow to ensure a fast, accurate temperature reading that is not possible with external sensors.
The AquaSense sensor comes standard with 10 feet of AWG#22 PVC jacketed cable with the O-ring installed and ready for use and can easily be adapted for use with RTDs and other temperature sensing technologies. This sensor is available in a variety of RvT curves, thermistor resistance values ranging from 5,000Ω to 30,000Ω and an operating temperature range of –20° C to +100° C. This temperature sensor offers a standard resistance tolerance of ±2% at 25°C.
Spectrum's AquaSense water temperature sensor options include various cable lengths and styles, multiple connectors & terminations and a variety of sensor values & accuracies. Additionally, this sensor is available with a stainless steel housing for potable water environments. These sensors are priced at approx. $ 5.00 @ 10,000 pcs with a lead-time of 4-6 weeks ARO.
