MC3A Compact Six Component Transducer

MC3A Compact Six Component Transducer

Wherever it is important to measure forces and moments in three dimensions you will find AMTI multiaxis load cells (multiaxis transducers). AMTI's load cells provide up to six degrees of freedom (DOF) and can resolve applied loads into three orthogonal forces and 3 moments.

The MC3A sensors are the smallest of AMTI's family of multi-component force transducers. These precision instruments feature high stiffness, high sensitivity' low crosstalk, excellent repeatability end long-term stability. They exhibit the inherent ruggedness of bonded strain gage transducers and they incorporate special seals to prevent water and oil contamination. Built-in overload stops provide substantial protection it the capacity of the transducer is exceeded.

The MC3A is available with one to six outputs corresponding to Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, and Mz. Standard vertical load capacities are 100, 250, 5Q0, and 1000 pounds, and horizontal load capacities ate half of the vertical rating. Custom transducers are available for special applications.

The instrument has three-inch square top and bottom mounting surfaces equipped with mounting holes and threaded inserts. A high-strength aluminum alloy (7075-T6) is used throughout to withstand harsh environments and a durable anodized finish protects the exterior from corrosion. Elastomeric O-ring seals provide internal protection of the strain gages and wiring, and the strain gages are potted to further insure long life and consistent, reliable performance.

Our load cells are used in the aerospace industry for wind tunnel measurements, control surface measurements, landing gear drop testing and for pilot ergonomic studies.

Our multiaxis force platforms and multiaxis transducers have been used by NASA in orbital experimentation for zero gravity ergonomic and task performance studies.

Force control and compliance based robotics control require multiaxis force and moment measurement. AMTI multiaxis load cells are used for inline measurement of actuator forces and are used as robotics force platforms to measure reaction forces.

AMTI multiaxis transducers are used in many marine and naval applications including tow tank measurements, control surface studies and propeller performance investigations.

Manufacturing applications include grinding and abrasive wheel research and development, tool wear and tool performance research, cutting process optimization and tool wear monitoring.

Automotive applications include tire performance research, vehicle test stand instrumentation, operator ergonomics, crash testing, vehicle dynamics, vehicle aerodynamics and wind tunnel testing.

Many applications are found in materials testing, test machine instrumentation, tribology (friction and wear), structural modeling and testing, structural dynamics, earthquake simulation and other areas where multiple degrees of freedom of force and moment measurement are required.

AMTI's multiaxis load cells and transducers are used for many human performance monitoring tasks such as athletic performance measurements, orthopedic research and physical and occupational therapy and research.
